Ab Coaster – Exactly how to perform the exercise?

Okay, I have had the Ab Coaster Pro for 1 week now. I have not yet felt this "different way my pants fit" or a "tightening of the core". I’ve done the exercises with the video and now without but I’m still not 100% sure I’m doing them correctly.

I weigh about 175 lbs. and am 6′ 1” with long arms and legs. When I put my elbows down, my hands are at the top of the two bars to hold on to. Also, my arms are frozen in place but each time I am doing a lift with my abs/legs my biceps flex. Am I doing this correctly?

Any and ALL information is greatly appreciated! If you have a video of yourself doing it, that you can send me via the web, that would be awesome. Of the few videos up, I don’t feel they’re really helping.

Thanks!
I work on the coaster every other day though would anybody recommend doing them every day? I do about 20 reps, center, to the right, and then left. Then, I do 15 center, to the right, then then the left, and just work my way down to 5.
So I tried just leaving my elbows in the right place without much holding on to the bars and then did 2 sets of 50 reps. I ended up really feeling it lower than ever before.

I’m still looking for a response from someone who owns it, though the first response was great/helpful to read.

I don’t own the ab coaster (as much as I’ve been lusting after it from watching the commercials) but what I’d tell you is that the only difference between using it and doing floor crunches is the position your body is in. When I used to work out with a trainer, I would do sit ups every day and had built up to doing 200 reps per day. I was getting some definition but still had fat covering the ab muscles so it wasn’t as defined as the models you see on the infomercials. You probably don’t want to hear this but you need to build up to a lot more reps than you’re currently doing.

I used to attempt using the roman chair in the gym, which is what this machine is similar to so I can picture what you’re doing. It sounds like you’re trying to use your arms too much to pull up and you need to engage your ab muscles more. Form makes a huge difference. Don’t worry if you can’t coast all the way up yet in doing reps. Better to do fewer reps engaging your core muscles and building up your strength in your core, than more reps using incorrect form. If you do it "right", you can get better results with fewer reps. But you’ll still need to build up to more reps than you’re currently doing for your obliques.

What is the best workout machine/system?

I’m looking for an item i can buy at a great price
used or new
that will help me work on cardio and abs.

ive heard of Ab Circle Pro and Ab Flyer and they all look so great but before i purchase on of the two
i would like to know what YOU think is the best affordable workout machine/system.
simply loosing 28 pounds is all i need i’m not like super huge but i wanna be smaller aswell.
along with healthy eating of course.

i just need recommendations
all answers are accepted!

thanks!!

For cardio

A jump rope and/or a punching bag (with hand wraps and gloves). A jump rope is less than $10. A punching bag can be got for less than $100. The wraps and gloves less than $30 together.

Or a pair of running shoes. A decent pair of running shoes would be a bit over $100. Don’t buy a low quality pair, your joints will thank you.

For strength

A barbell and weight plates. A squat rack would be good to. You can find those things in the classifieds or garage sales usually. I’ve heard of people getting a decent weight set for less than $100. The squat rack can be homemade.

Losing weight is about burning calories. Ab exercises don’t expend enough energy to burn many calories. They won’t help you lose weight, no matter what the commercial says.

Both strength training and cardio will help you lose weight. Strength training builds muscle and elevates the metabolism, both of which burn plenty of calories.

AB COASTER – How well built is the home version of this machine?

I use the health club version at my gym – truly an incredible ab machine (I have been a gym rat forever). I cannot do hanging leg raises or preachers seat raises without my back burning in pain way before my abs are sufficiently worked to failure – the Ab Coaster allows my abs to be blasted in all areas without any back discomfort. The results are far better than I have EVER been able to get with any other ab exercise.

Anyway – Before I pull the trigger on the infomercial home unit, I would love some feedback on how strudy it is from people who have it. I would appreciate it -
Just read the Blog at the Ab Coaster site – their Health Club version just won the FIBO (whatever that is) 2008 Innovation Award at like the largest European Health Org,/…here is a link to the article: http://Abcoaster.blogspot.com/

Thanks for the answers btw!
Forgot to mention – last year winner was the Treadclimber, so that’s pretty good company. Oh Yeah – I bought one.

I was very impressed, even with the cost. Actually the $400 included delivery, so I guess its more like $325ish – but the quality is definitely there – very solid. btw – I agree with the leg raise comment. This actually makes it possible for all of us "has beens" or middle agers to simulate that motion because it is the Gold standard for gymnasts and bodybuilders. Crunches will never get somone over the "cusp" to the tightness I feel with this machine. I am glad I got one…..you will be to. Good luck – RG

Is Ab Flyer effective?

Is it easy to use? What slimming supplement would you suggest? I want only supplements so I wouldn’t be scared of the side effects.

Ab Flyer looks to be the same motion as the Ab Coaster which has gotten alot of good press including a large number of magazine articles and reviews all of which seem to be non-biased. Go to their "Press" page of the website.

Ab Flyer is half priced, so may not be quite as sturdy, but not sure. It does have a similar weight limit.

Damn ab coaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! save your money dont buy?

i believe the Ab Coaster is made for people that already have Abs! its not really doing nothing for me i’m just rocking back and forth it’s like my knees on a swing i don’t know about this i want my money back but the other-side i’m thinking i should try it for a month and see i just got it yesterday does anyone have one if so am i doing something wrong

ONLY WAY TO GET RID OF STOMACH FAT IS A GOOD DIET AND CARDIO!

WHEN WILL PEOPLE LEARN?????

NO AB WORK OUT WILL BURN STOMACH FAT

how does the ab flyer compare to the ab coaster?

I’m 15 years old and I want the ab coaster but it’s 400$ and out of my budget. I was looking online and I found something very similar made by the same company called the ab flyer. To me it looks like it does the same exact thing as the ab coaster. The only difference I can see is that it is not as high-tech as the Ab Coaster, but it is only 200$ which gets me worried that it is cheap like the ab circle pro. Can someone with experience with this machine tell me whether or not the ab flyer is cheap? Also, does it work as well as the ab coaster? Does it give you the same results?

All help is appreciated! Thank You!

The Ab Coaster is worth it and its better. I used it for 1 year and i lost over 100 lbs with it and the best part is I ate good food. Try it, you will never regret it. Once i used it I felt it working. Right now I have eight pack abs. I’m only 18 and it works for adults and teens. below is a link that has a good price for the ab coaster. I also have a little extra to go with it

hope it helps

I would like to know if anyone knows where to buy the ab coaster at a cheaper price than on TV?

The cost on TV is $400.

Wait a few weeks and then look for it on eBay.

Good luck.
