The Girl Scouts use to offer a "Babysitting Badge". Many other organizations offer training and help hook you up with parents that have to meet strict guidelines and help you to avoid the pitfalls in Babysitting. I've known several 11 year old girls and boys that did very well with after school jobs, who graduated to evening jobs when they were older. When I started my babysitting buisness I put flyers in stores, handed them to people coming out of daycare centers and gave them to little kids as they got off the school bus.
