what is the best ab machine out there right now?

i heard that the ab circle breaks and isnt very sturdy but it looks cool, and im interested in the ab coaster but the price of it just makes me a litttle angry. any other ones that actually make your stomach look flatter?

I hope you heard this before, and it is rather disappointing to hear, but 99.9% [Citation needed] of ab equipment will not make your stomach flatter =/

Abs are sometimes used as a visible indicator as body fat percentage, and the old phrase "abs are made in the kitchen not in the gym" is certainly true. The only way most ab machines help you get a flatter stomach is by burning calories (which you can do by running, any activity that gets your heart going). Running and other cardio activities are probably better for it too. But diet is the biggest thing for a flatter stomach. You can’t spot reduce either, so if you want your stomach to get flatter, you have to lose fat everywhere.

I agree 100% with phrozenwarrior, but something else I’d like to point out:

Ab strength is surprisingly important for overall fitness and health. Although you seem to be asking this question because you want defined abs (which, to reiterate what phrozenwarrior said, cannot be done without a proper overall fitness and diet plan), it’s important to strengthen your abs.

All machines stifle your range of motion and although they make you stronger, aren’t nearly as useful as just doing curls. I recommend *not* using any machines, and just doing curls and six-inches, which is when you keep your legs flat and keep them six inches above the ground for as long as you can. Personally, I do crunches at an angle while holding weights on my chest, which makes my abs stronger, but it actually makes my stomach larger, as it’s weightlifting for the abs.
